Norris Recreation Center Invites You To Start A Health and Wellness Journey

If you’re starting a new health and wellness routine, support and guidance can help immensely.

Enter the staff at the John B. Norris Recreation Center in St. Charles.

“One thing we learn when we connect with people when they first come in is – why are they here,” said Dan Charak, Member Services Supervisor. “Everybody’s journey is different.”

Establishing personalized health and wellness goals that fit into one’s lifestyle can set individuals on the right path, Charak said. The Norris Recreation Center gets members started via a complimentary fitness consultation and health assessment.

“To me, it’s really getting [members] established with their goals … providing them professional assistance,” Charak said. “We’re here to help with that. We have a lot of great people and programs in line, and everyone is here for that common goal.”

The benefits of being a Norris Recreation Center member extend beyond an introductory evaluation and multitude of health and wellness programs – programs that include Total Body Bootcamp, Group Cycling and Vibrational Sound Healing.

Engaging events, incentive-driven activities and a long list of amenities are also featured at the center, which is managed by the St. Charles Park District.

Take, for example, the Wimbledon Mixer for those age 21 and older. The event will take place from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Norris Recreation Center, synching up with this year’s

Wimbledon championships, which run from Monday, June 28, through Sunday, July 11.

Wimbledon Mixer participants are invited to get into the championship spirit by wearing their tennis whites and bringing a wooden racket to the social competition. When not demonstrating their tennis skills on the court, they are invited to enjoy strawberries, light snacks and sparkling water.

“It will be a fun, round robin-type of event, so [participants] will meet a lot of different people,” said Bill Dahm, Tennis Pro Supervisor. “Wimbledon just brings back a lot of memories … It’s just a good way to get people out playing and meeting other people.”
