Divemaster Wayne Smith from the Elgin Fire Department Water Rescue & Recovery team will talk about how the team trains for and performs water rescue and will give tips on keeping you safe.
Summer Hours and Song Promo at Studio
Gail Borden Library’s Teen Center, Studio 270, has new summer hours. They are noon to 9 pm
Monday through Thursday, noon to 6 pm Friday and Saturday, and noon to 5 pm Sunday. The
studio is hosting a summer-long program for teens who would like to submit a song to be
considered for a Studio 270 compilation album/playlist. Called Songs of the Summer, the program runs through August 10. For information, call 847-695-7577 or email email@example.com.

Music from the Trenches

ESO cellist Sara Sitzer and pianist Daniel Pesca will explore the classical music that came out of the World War I era. Hear the stories of the music and enjoy performances shaped by the Great War, from composers who served on the front lines to those who were simply inspired by it.
Bike, Walk, Move Week
June 17 – 23
Stop by the Rakow Branch all week to pedal power the Machine Bike! Crafts will be available for all ages at the Rakow Branch and South Elgin Branch. Programs such as bike maintenance, yoga for cyclists and family Zumba will take place. Bike to the Rakow Branch or South Elgin Branch on June 23 during library hours and receive a sweet treat. Dairies to Prairies
Sunday, June 24 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Premiering at Gail Borden Library, this feature-length documentary tells the nearly forgotten story of Elgin’s dairy industry, the families that operated dairy farms and delivered products, and the change in land use and agriculture. A traveling exhibit about Dairies to Prairies will be on display at the Main Library from June 24 to July 17.
