Norris launches new Wednesdays @ One event series with Beethoven program
Wednesday, February 19, marks the start of a new, free event series at the Baker Community Center in downtown St. Charles, 101 S. Second St. (corner of Rt. 31 and Walnut St.).
This year, 2020, is the 250th birth year anniversary of Ludwig van Beethoven, widely regarded as the most influential composer of Western music. He inherited the Viennese classical style of Haydn and Mozart and infused its forms and genres with new and breathtaking innovations, which profoundly impacted the musicians of his time all of the generations that followed.
In “Beethoven @250,” Andrew Lewis offers a lecture and listening session that explores what made Beethoven so great, and examines how and why his influence still resonates across the centuries to the present day.
Please note: This and all “Wednesdays @One” events are appropriate for all ages, open to the public, and presented free of charge, thanks to the generous support of Colonial Cafe.
