Naper Settlement September 2019 Events and Program

Naper Settlement is pleased to present the following events and programs during September 2019. General museum admission is $12 for adults, $10 for seniors (62+), and $8 for youth (4-12). Grandparents Day 

Sunday, September 8 • 1-4 PM

In honor of National Grandparents Day, enjoy fun agriculture-themed activities in the historic buildings and on our grounds, make a card for your grandparents, and learn how to preserve your family’s artifacts and traditions.


Weed Ladies 50th Anniversary Fall Sale

Thursday – Saturday, September 12 – 14 • 10 AM–4 PM

Sunday, September 15 • 1–4 PM

The Weed Ladies fall sale features creative seasonal floral arrangements with silk and dried florals and the popular dried bouquets. Admission to the sale is free.


Blacksmithing 101 

Saturday, September 14 & 28, 8–11 AM

$150 includes both sessions

Learn the art of blacksmithing with an introduction to safety, tools and the forge in this two-session class. Participants will learn hammer techniques while making an item to take home. Ages 18 and up. All materials are provided. Registration is required and the course is limited to six participants.


Paint by BEER 

Friday, September 13 • 7-9 PM

$18 includes one canvas and one drink ticket

Relive your childhood of Painting by Numbers, only this time enjoy a beer as you fill in the canvas. Learn about the history of Paint by Numbers, get inspired by vintage examples, and take home your own painting. Adults only—must be 21 years of age and older to participate in this program. Reservations are required.


Celebrate Naperville!

Sunday, September 15, 1-4 PM

Celebrate the many facets of Indian American heritage through art, music, dance, sports, and food on our grounds and in our historic buildings!  Held in conjunction with the exhibit “Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation”.


History Speaks Lecture Series: Reshaping Immigrant Fiction, An Indian American Author’s Journey

Sunday, September 15 • 4–5 PM

Non-Members: $10/adult, $9/youth (4-12) and students

Members: $8/adult, $7/ youth (4-12)

Sonali Dev, award-winning author of books with a Bollywood beat, shares her insight into writing about Indian culture. This lecture will be held in Century Memorial Chapel.


Fourth Thursday Pop-Up:

Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation

Thursday, September 26 • 4-8 PM

From 4-7 PM, “Beyond Bollywood: Indian Americans Shape the Nation” is open for touring. Then, from 7-8 PM enjoy a program by Dr. Masum Momaya, Beyond Bollywood Curator, who will discuss her research and work on this influential Smithsonian Institution exhibit. This program is free with paid admission at the reduced winter rate.
