Fox Valley Magazine: Who have been some of your favorite guests on The Jenny McCarthy Show?
Jenny McCarthy: Dr. Ruth and Deepak Chopra. They are perfect examples of experts talking about 2 very different topics but both essential for living a balanced, healthy happy life.
Fox Valley Magazine: What actors would you most like to work with that you haven’t?
Jenny McCarthy: I would love to do a film with my husband, Donnie.
Fox Valley Magazine: You moved back to the Chicago area after 20 years in Los Angeles, why Geneva IL?
Jenny McCarthy: My best friend from college grew up in Geneva. I had flown in from LA to be her maid of honor at her wedding and I checked into the Hotel Baker and fell in love with the hotel and the surrounding cities. So quiet, quaint, and the people were so friendly. Then 15 years after her wedding, I got the idea to move there after seeing all of her Facebook posts of the community. It reminded me so much of my own childhood and I knew I wanted to give Evan that same Midwest upbringing so I crossed my fingers and toes and made the big move. I didn’t have any work lined up, I just trusted I would find work that would give me the lifestyle and community that would be best for my son. And I was right .
Fox Valley Magazine: Will you be filming in the Fox Valley area any time soon?
Jenny McCarthy: All the time. We still shoot episodes of Wahlburgers here. I broadcast my Sirius radio show daily out of our home and request that most other photos shoots happen in the area.
Fox Valley Magazine: What lead you to launch your own brand of cocktails?
Jenny McCarthy: A few different reasons. One, I was allergic to gluten, so most beers and most vodkas are off the list. Two, I didn’t like all the sugar and artificial junk mixed cocktails put into their drinks. I care about calories and don’t appreciate the hangovers from too much sugar. So I asked myself a question… “Can I find someone to help me make a Low cal, gluten free, real fruit Juice, no added sugar vodka cocktail? One that is already mixed and all I have to do is pour?” I took a meeting with mid Oak distillery on the south side of Chicago and they promised they wouldn’t cut any corners and figured out how to put electrolytes in the drink. We use coconut water, minus the coconut Taste. So, they fulfilled all of my requests and made the best tasting vodka cocktail on the market.
Fox Valley Magazine: What is the source of the vodka that you use for Blondies?
Jenny McCarthy: I am proud to say my cocktails are free from artificial flavors, dyes, have no added sugar and are gluten free. The only sophisticated cocktail made with real fruit juice and a heavy dose of ultra-premium gold medal winning vodka. Grab a bottle, crack open, and pour over ice. Enjoy!
Fox Valley Magazine: You currently have 2 flavors, lemonade and strawberry lemonade. Will you be offering any other flavors?
Jenny McCarthy: Yes, blueberry and grapefruit are coming down the pipe!
Fox Valley Magazine: How has the feedback been from friends and family?
Jenny McCarthy: The response from family has been great, but they are family. So, while I appreciate their opinions, the true test is with the consumers. They don’t have to worry about my feelings, and their opinions have been so positive. It’s rewarding, humbling and inspires me to keep working hard to perfect and expand the product.
Fox Valley Magazine: Where can Fox Valley residents get Blondies locally?
Jenny McCarthy: Jewel-Osco, Binny’s, Safeway, and Woodmans Food Market.
Fox Valley Magazine: When can we see you on ‘The Wahlbergers” with your Blondies cocktails?
Jenny McCarthy: Last season Blondies was featured on an episode of Wahlburgers. Also, the new season, starting late Spring, will feature more behind the scene development of an artificially enhanced Chicagoan making her all natural cocktail. Cheers!
