Feel the Sunshine in Lake Geneva this Summer

Make the most of your time off and book a trip to feel the sunshine in Lake Geneva. With so many events, activities and entertainment options to enjoy, you will want to visit more than once this summer.

Beach, tan, relax, repeat  Soak up the sun and enjoy the pristine waters of Geneva Lake at the area’s four beaches open Memorial Day through Labor Day. Riviera Beach in downtown Lake Geneva, Williams Bay Beach, and The Village of Fontana Beach have bathhouses and lifeguards on duty. The beach at Pier 290 restaurant in Williams Bay is another place to relax and soak up the sun.

Golf, dine, entertain, repeat  Whether you are a serious golfer or a beginner, there are 11 courses ranging from championship to par-3 level experiences. Summer golf in Lake Geneva offers warmth and sunshine with lush vegetation, filled woodlands, and beautiful landscaping. Geneva National Resort & Club features 54 holes of legendary golf, The Brute at Grand Geneva Resort & Spa is one of the most challenging layouts in the Midwest, and Lake Lawn Resort’s Majestic Oaks championship golf course offers scenic views of Delavan Lake. Beginners, families and kids enjoy a walkable par-3 experience on the Barn Hallow course at Hawk’s View Golf Club.

After golf, plenty of dining and entertainment options await. Waterfront dining options include Café Calamari, Gordy’s Boathouse, Oakfire, and The Geneva Inn Restaurant. Or consider a downtown restaurant such as Carvettis, Sopra, or Tuscan Tavern & Grill. Live entertainment is easily found at area hotels and restaurants, with free concerts at Flat Iron Park, Music by the Lake concerts at George Williams College, Rosewood, Fireside Dinner Theater, and the Tristan Crist Magic Theatre.

Festival, fly, fireworks, repeat  With festivals featuring the stars (Starlight Festival at Yerkes Observatory), chocolate (Burlington Chocolatefest), music (Shake the Lake Music Festival at Lake Lawn Resort and Country Thunder Music Festival) and a carnival (Venetian Festival), there is something for everyone. Great firework displays aren’t only reserved for Fourth of July weekend in the Lake Geneva area. Every Sunday between Memorial Day and Labor Day, guests of the Grand Geneva Resort & Spa are treated to a Sunday evening fireworks show. The annual Venetian Festival, August 15 – 19, culminates with a beautiful fireworks display high above Geneva Lake.

Stroll, shop, spa, repeat  Take a stroll along the 21-mile Geneva Lake Shore Path for close up views of multi-million dollar estates with beautiful landscaping followed by some shopping and a spa treatment. Downtown Lake Geneva’s shops and boutiques offering antiques, apparel, art, gifts, home décor, toys and more are filled with special items each new season.

Taste of Lake Geneva & Restaurant Week: June 2 – 10 – Lake Geneva Restaurant Week returns for its fourth year with more food and fun. New this year, the Taste of Lake Geneva, held on Saturday, June 2, will kick off this celebration of food that runs through Sunday, June 10.
Moonlight Movies on the Beach: June 6, July 11, & August 8 – Grab the family, bring a blanket and enjoy a movie under the stars for free at Riviera Beach. Popcorn, candy and beverages will be available for purchase. Moonlight Movies on the Beach is happy to partner with the Geneva Theater for this new event.

Music by the Lake: June 24 – August 11 – From classic rock to orchestral works, the Music by the Lake series on weekends offers outdoor entertainment overlooking beautiful Geneva Lake. Bring your own picnic or purchase food at the College Inn. All performances occur rain or shine at the Ferro Pavilion overlooking Geneva Lake on the George Williams College Campus.

4th of July Fireworks:

 Grand Geneva Resort and Timber Ridge Lodge explodes with fun for all ages on July 3. The day includes carnival games, inflatable fun, face painters, picnic food and the Grand Fireworks display at dusk.

Geneva National Resort & Club’s red, white and barbecue heats up at 5:00 p.m. with food, drinks, carnival games, inflatables and live music. The Resort’s fireworks display (on July 3) over Lake Como is a spectacular show. Golfers will want to take advantage of special July 4th weekend rates.

Village of Fontana: Head to Fontana Beach to see the fireworks on July 4th. This fireworks show begins at 9:00 p.m.
Concerts in the Park: July 5 – August 23 – Bring a picnic or purchase some street food while taking in the music at this free concert series. Concerts take place every Thursday, 6 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. throughout July and August at Flat Iron Park, a lakeside location in downtown Lake Geneva.

Cars Time Forgot Show: July 7 & 8, 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. – Rev your engines for the Cars Time Forgot Show held at Lake Lawn Resort. Overlooking Delavan Lake, this show attracts thousands who will admire custom cars, trucks, motorcycles and vehicles of special interest from across the country. Don’t forget to ask for the Show package starting at $479 that includes accommodations for two nights plus much more.

Shake the Lake Music Festival at Lake Lawn Resort: July 27 – 29 – This three-day festival kicks off Friday with a lineup of retro rock, food, fun, and drink. Along with amazing tunes, activities include a KISS inspired costume contest, the 3rd Annual Walworth County Bags Championship, carnival games, food trucks, kids’ activities and much more.

Art in the Park: August 11 – 12 – Take in views of Geneva Lake while enjoying Art in the Park, a juried fine art exhibition featuring pottery, glass, wood, jewelry, painting, photography, sculpture and more. This event is held at Flat Iron Park from 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. Saturday and 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on Sunday.

Venetian Festival: August 15 – 19 – Highlights of this five-day festival include a carnival, water ski show, live music, craft fair, lighted boat parade and the areas largest fireworks display over Geneva Lake. Enjoy local faire at the brat stand and beer tent.

Maxwell Street Days: August 24 – 26 – Hit the streets of downtown Lake Geneva for the largest sidewalk sale of the year. Shoppers won’t want to miss the bargains and specials offered by the area’s stores during Maxwell Street Days. When it’s time for a shopping break, the downtown area has plenty of coffee spots, pubs, grills, and ice cream must stops.
