A Chicago man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison after having been convicted of attempting to rob a delivery truck at a Naperville Jewel store. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin announced this week that 33-year-old Frederick Holmon has been sentenced to twenty years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for attempting to rob a beverage supply delivery driver using a 9mm semi-automatic rifle in July, 2021. An Oswego man is in custody after being found with a 9mm Glock that had been modified to fire as an automatic machine gun in his possession. DuPage County State’s Attorney Robert Berlin and Naperville Chief of Police Jason Arres announced today that Judge Brian Telander set bond at $25,000 for the 18-year-old accused. Telander denied the State’s motion to deny bond. The National Weather Service is confirming a tornado in Elgin Wednesday evening having a maximum intensity of EF-1 with maximum wind speed of 100 mph. The tornado’s track roughly started east of Illinois Route 47 and ended near the railroad tracks west of the Villa Olivia Golf Course on US Route 20. Eight homes in Elgin’s Edgewater subdivision sustained significant damage that prevents them from being occupied. Eleven have damage requiring substantial repairs, but did not affect the dwellings’ structural integrity. Combined damage estimates for the nineteen homes is $7 million. A 63-year-old Aurora man has been found guilty of sexually assaulting a young girl over a 12 year period. On Monday, Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced that Judge Elizabeth Flood found Lewis T. Richardson of Aurora guilty of the offenses of: Between June 2005 and June 2017, Richardson had sexual contact with the victim. A series of tornados ripped through the Fox Valley Wednesday evening, causing significant damage in some areas. A line of violent storms swept through the area from 5pm to 7pm Wednesday evening, spawning multiple tornados. Many of the tornados were in very close proximity to each other, produced by what meteorologists call “supercells,” unique storms that contain updrafts that rotate about a vertical axis. Preliminary estimates by the National Weather Service indicate that as many has eight tornadoes may have touched down in the Chicago area, with Elgin and South Elgin being particularly hard hit.
