On an evening in late May, 2021, 46-year-old Samuel Ortiz-Rodriguez of Aurora was standing outside a residence talking with a few individuals. At that moment, three street-gang members from a nearby neighborhood walked by and mistakenly identified him as a member of a rival gang. One of the gang members shot him dead. A Maple Park man was killed this morning when his pick-up truck burst into flames after ploughing into a semi-truck on Route 47. At approximately 5:18 AM this morning, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies were dispatched to the scene of a fiery crash at the intersection of Illinois Route 47 and Beith Road in Campton Township. A Texas man was arrested and released on his own recognizance after a shooting incident Saturday evening in Elgin. On Friday evening at approximately 6:30pm, Elgin police officers responded to the 1700 block of North State Street for a report of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers identified the alleged perpetrator and took him into custody. After investigating the incident, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office has charged a 29-year-old man from Spring, Texas, with the following crimes: The accused appeared in Kane County bond call this morning where the Judge released him on his own recognizance (ROR).

A Yorkville man is dead after he lost control of his motorcycle and crashed into a tree on Route 126. On Sunday morning at approximately 8:51am, first responders were dispatched to the area of Route 126 and Identa Road in Yorkville for a single vehicle accident. Preliminary results suggest that the man was traveling eastbound on Route 126 when his 1995 Honda motorcycle left the roadway and struck a tree just west of Identa Road.
