A 23-year-old male staff member at Huntley Middle School has been arrested for sexually assaulting a student at the school. The alleged incident took place on school grounds, according to police. According to a press release, on April 14, 2023, the DeKalb Police Department was notified by the Huntley Middle School staff that an inappropriate encounter between a staff member and a minor had occurred on school premises. A 59-year-old West Chicago man was killed Tuesday morning after he stopped to help a goose off the road on St. Charles Street/Route 25 in Elgin Township. According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, Rateb Arqan pulled over on the side of the road at 1200 St. Charles Street at about 6am to help remove a goose from the southbound lanes of traffic. As he was moving the bird, a southbound Chevrolet Express Van driven by Juan Padilla-Regalado of Elgin, 29, struck him. Arqan was pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old South Elgin man has been arrested and charged in the brutal stabbing death of his mother Sunday. Prosecutors allege that the man stabbed his mother, 53-year- old Beata Wybraniec, multiple times with a knife, causing her death. The incident began inside the South Elgin residence they shared. Beata Wybraniec attempted to flee from the defendant but he caught her outside and resumed stabbing her. The defendant has been charged with the offenses of first-degree murder (two counts), and armed violence, Class X felony. He appeared today in Kane County bond court.
