While the frequency of shooting incidents has declined somewhat in Elgin this year so far, they continue to plague the city on a regular, if more sporadic, basis. This weekend, in the space of 12 hours, three separate incidents of gunshots fired were investigated by the Elgin Police Department. On Saturday at 2:30 p.m., officers responded to the 200 block of S. Lyle Ave. for a report of a past shots fired. Upon arrival, officers located damage and it appeared that shots fired had occurred. A 57-year-old Aurora man riding a motorized scooter veered off the sidewalk and fell into traffic on Farnsworth Avenue Thuresday afternoon, suffering a severe injury when his arm was run over by a commuter bus. On Thursday at 3:42 PM, APD was dispatched to the area of Farnsworth Avenue and Molitor Road for a traffic crash involving a bicycle and commuter bus.
