Mayor Lora Vitek has announced she will recommend the appointment of Heather M. McGuire as City Administrator of the City of St. Charles. McGuire’s nomination will be voted on at the June 21, 2021, City Council Meeting. Upon Council approval, McGuire’s appointment will be effective July 26, 2021. McGuire comes to St. Charles from the City of Crest Hill, a southwest suburban community of 20,827 residents, where she served as City Administrator since 2016. The Artisan Collective will “pop up” at the Batavia Farmer’s Market, located on North River Street between Wilson and Spring Streets, on Saturday, June 19th, from 12-4pm. The Artisan Collective will be “popping up” with 45 other makers, artists, and salvaged good vendors. The Elgin Police Department reported that at approximately 2:42am this morning they responded to a report of shots fired. Upon arrival at the 700 block of West Highland Avenue, evidence of a shooting and property damage were located. No injuries have been reported at this time. This is the 32nd reported incident of shots fired in Elgin this year, keeping the city on pace to match or break it’s 2016 record of 64 for the full year.
