Yesterday evening in Elgin, two suspects were found injured from what appeared to be gunshot wounds. The suspects were transported to area hospitals and are reported to be in stable condition. At 9:24 p.m. Wednesday evening, Elgin police officers responded to the 0-100 block of Hill Avenue for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located two subjects with injuries who were subsequently transported to area hospitals. An Elgin man is in custody for allegedly shooting a gun during a domestic argument on Monday. On Tuesday at approximately 10:30 p.m., Elgin police officers responded to a call reporting a domestic argument Monday in the 1100 block of Clover Hill Lane. During the incident, a handgun was discharged by a male subject while in the residence. The subject was known to the caller. Officers located a handgun and evidence of gunfire damage. A 59 year-old man who was hit by a car while crossing Chicago Avenue in Elgin has died from his injuries, according to a police report. The dead man, who has yet to be publicly identified, was crossing Chicago Avenue northbound on the evening of Wednesday, December 15th when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle travelling eastbound on Chicago. He was immediately transported to an area hospital where, on Monday, he succumbed to his injuries. The Elgin police found that the vehicle in question was being driven by a 57 year-old male, who was not injured during the incident.…
The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) issued new guidelines today for quarantines after being exposed to the COVID-19 virus. CDC is shortening the recommended time for isolation from 10 days for people with COVID-19 to 5 days, if asymptomatic, followed by 5 days of wearing a mask when around others. In a media release, the CDC said that the change is motivated by science demonstrating that the majority of SARS-CoV-2 transmission occurs early in the course of illness, generally in the 1-2 days prior to onset of symptoms and the 2-3 days after.
