The Kane County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the circumstances of a house fire in the Lily Lake area last week that resulted in the discovery of a deceased female.
Deputies responded to a residence in the 43W500 block of Otter Lane in unincorporated Kane County after receiving a report of a structure fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel had located a deceased female inside the garage of the residence.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division responded to the scene and is working collaboratively with the Elburn Fire Department, the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office, the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force, and the Kane County Coroner’s Office.
Authorities are quick to to emphasize that the involvement of the Illinois State Fire Marshal’s Office and the Kane County Fire Investigation Task Force should not be interpreted as an indication of foul play. At this time, no conclusions have been reached.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office has scheduled the autopsy on Wednesday.
