A 28-year-old Oswego woman has been sentenced to 30 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to murdering her friend in February 2023.

Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced that Alexia Telles was sentenced, pursuant to plea agreement, to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections for First Degree Murder by Judge Jody Gleason last week.

Telles was arrested and charged back in February of 2023, after she arrived at a residence in Oswego with her girlfriend, Annissa Ellen-Williams, suffering from a traumatic wound to the head. Ms. Ellen-Williams was later pronounced dead after medical personal attempted life-saving measures. A thorough investigation was conducted by both the Oswego Police Department and the Illinois State Police which led to Telles being charged with First Degree Murder.

It was believed that Telles and the victim had been in an argument while Ms. Ellen-Williams was driving. The evidence recovered during the investigation, including forensic and digital, as well as statements made to police during the investigation by Telles, led investigators to conclude Telles had intentionally killed Ms. Ellen-Williams and tried to make it look like a suicide.

Mr. Weis stated “These cases can be difficult to prosecute because only two people know exactly what occurred that fateful night. However, the investigative work done by law enforcement and the Coroner’s Office led to the successful prosecution of Telles for the murder of Ms. Ellen-Williams.”

“This sentence ensures that justice is served, and the victim’s family does not have to endure the pain of a trial. Telles has accepted responsibility for the heartless act she committed against someone she professed to care so much for.”

Telles will have to serve one hundred percent of her 30-year prison sentence. She will serve 3 years of Mandatory Supervised Release after completing the 30-year prison sentence. Telles has remained in custody since her arrest.
