An Aurora man has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for his role in the fentanyl-related death of a young woman.
Kendall County State’s Attorney Eric Weis announced Tiuesday that Macros Salas was sentenced to 10 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections by the Honorable Jody Gleason for Drug Induced Homicide on Monday. Salas had entered a plea of guilty to the offense back in October of 2024.
In July 2021, Kendall County Sheriff’s officers were called to an address in the Boulder Hill subdivision by a report that a young female who had passed away unexpectantly. When it was learned that victim died in part due to fentanyl intoxication, a month-long investigation was conducted. It resulted in numerous search warrants which found correspondence between Salas and the victim, as well as Salas and other individuals. These messages included agreements to provide the victim with illegal narcotics containing fentanyl, and included the cost of those illegal narcotics.
Weis commented, “10 years will not bring the victim back to her family and loved ones, but maybe it will dissuade the next individual from trying to make an illegal profit at the cost of another human beings life.”
Due to the nature of the offense, Salas will have to serve 75% of his sentence and serve a term of mandatory supervised release for 18 months upon his release from prison.
