A 42-year-old woman was tragically killed in a multi-vehicle crash on Ogden Avenue in Aurora Tuesday evening.

According to preliminary information from the Aurora Police department, at approximately 9:52pm Tuesday a silver 2011 Volkswagen Routan was traveling eastbound on Ogden Avenue approaching Frontenac Street when it collided with three vehicles stopped at a traffic light. The impact caused the Volkswagen to roll on its side, partially ejecting the female driver from the driver’s side window and pinning her to the roadway.

Aurora Fire Department personnel extricated the driver, but the 42-year-old woman was unable to survive her injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene at approximately 10:12pm.

The DuPage County Coroner’s Office responded to the scene and took custody of the deceased. An autopsy will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death and will release the driver’s name at a later time. The occupants of the other three vehicles were assessed and treated on scene by Aurora Fire Department personnel, with no further medical care or transport required.

“Our hearts go out to the family and loved ones affected by this tragic loss,” said Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross. “Even when roads seem less busy, we urge all drivers to remain mindful of their surroundings to help prevent devastating accidents like this.”

The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at (630) 256-5330 or email [email protected].
