In what appears to be a related incident, Kane County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a suspicious man near their headquarters on Route 38 in unincorporated Kane County and arrested him on unrelated charges. During their interaction with the man, deputies found stolen items later identified as proceeds from the various Geneva car burglaries reported.
The car burglary crimes remain under investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Geneva Police Department. Anyone with information is asked to call the Geneva Police Department at 630-232-4736.
In the release, Geneva Police emphasized that most car burglaries are preventable by locking car doors and removing valuables, such as computers, phones, electronics, purses, keys, garage door openers, etc. Residents also should make sure their garage door is closed, windows are secured, and access doors to the garage and home are locked.
