Two people were killed early Tuesday morning in a head-on collision on Army Trail Road near Bartlett.
According to a report by the DuPage County Sheriff’s office, at approximately 5:40 pm Tuesday, 28-year-old Jacob Lulek of Carol Stream was driving his Hyundai westbound on Army Trail at a high rate of speed. Lulek passed several cars, crossing over the double-yellow lines frequently on the winding road.
According to the report, eventually Lulek struck an eastbound vehicle head-on. The vehicle, a Jeep, was driven by 47-year-old Gloria Suarez Urquiza of Hanover Park.
Lulek died upon impact and was pronounced dead at the scene. Urquiza was flown to Advocate Good Samaritan Hospital for treatment, but was pronounced dead shortly after.
A third vehicle was also hit during the incident, but the driver was uninjured.
According to the report, at this time drugs or alcohol do not appear to be a factor in the incident.
