Now entering its 24th year, the Maple Park Fun Fest will be held this Saturday through Labor Day in downtown Maple Park.
The Fest began back in 1998 as a slow-pitch softball tournament (still park of its offering) and gradually expanded into a three-day celebration of Maple Park and small-town Illinois generally.
Included in the festivities (in addition to the softball, of course) are a bean bag tournament, car show, an arts and crafts show, and a parade.
The Food and Beer Garden will provide sustenance, and lots of live music will keep the proceedings lively, as will the fireworks display on Sunday.
The parade is set for Saturday at 5pm, and it will be proceeded by the Bike Parade at 4:15.
