A violent crash at the intersection of Randall Road and Red Gate this afternoon resulted in two St. Charles men in hospital in serious condition.
According to a report from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, at approximately 3:00 p.m. a 2009 gray Chevrolet Malibu was traveling northbound Randall Rd. through the intersection of Red Gate Rd. when a 2016 silver Toyota Sienna turned left onto eastbound Red Gate Rd. in front of him causing a collision in the intersection.
This caused the Chevrolet to veer off the roadway and strike the traffic signal pole on the northeast corner on the passenger side of the vehicle.
The driver of the Chevrolet, 20-year-old Mason Koffenberger, and his passenger, 19-year-old Kevin White, both of St. Charles, were transported to Delnor Hospital with serious injuries.
The driver of Toyota, 74-year-old Frank Morales of Elgin, was treated and released at the scene. He was cited for failure to yield turning left.
The investigation is still ongoing at this time by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office along with the Kane County Accident Reconstruction Team. It is unknown if drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash at this time.
