A must stop for a summer fun destination is Geneva’s 70th Annual Swedish Days Festival.  “The Granddaddy of Illinois Festivals” will run Tuesday through Sunday, June 18-23.  More than 200,000 visitors and residents stop by for a variety of activities – combining traditional events and exciting new attractions.  Look for more information in our brochure to be distributed mid – late May throughout Geneva.

Shopping & Treasures

Shoppers look forward each year to merchant side-walk sales offering “must have” bargains in Geneva’s 100+ specialty shops.  Moonlight Madness on Tuesday evening where shops are open til 9 pm!  Art & Craft Show returns Friday and Saturday only.

Free Entertainment

Free nightly musical entertainment on Central Stage kicks off Wednesday with Geneva Park District performances and Geneva’s Got Talent.   Thursday, Friday and Saturday we welcome bands to Swedish Days for the first time.  Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday afternoons from 1-3 pm relax on the courthouse lawn and listen to featured artists.

A car show debuts on S. Third Thursday from 5-9 pm.  Cars, food, DJ and free photo booth.

Entertainment Line-Up supported by Northwestern Medicine

Geneva Chamber of Commerce’s 70th Annual Swedish Days Festival supported by Northwestern Medicine runs from June 18-23 in downtown Geneva and has an array of talent that offers something for every type of music fan at three different venues.

“Bringing a mix of genres and styles to the festivals is always top of mind.  Having entertainment begin on Wednesday with Geneva Park District performances and Geneva’s Got Talent semi-finals allowed the Geneva Chamber to bring new “hot” bands each evening to Central Stage, Thursday through Saturday.   We hope the audience enjoys the changes,” noted Laura Rush, Communications Director of Geneva Chamber of Commerce.

Wednesday evening’s Central Stage entertainment will begin at 4:00 p.m. as the Swedish American Children’s Choir welcomes you with a traditional Swedish Välkommen. At 5:00 p.m. enjoy live performances by the Geneva Park District’s Angels Cheer & Poms Team, the Geneva Gymnastics Academy, Playhouse 38 youth performers, and the Geneva Park District’s Sunset Dance Academy. Immediately following will be the semifinalists from “Geneva’s Got Talent” performances.

Thursday don’t miss “Geneva’s Got Talent” finalists, starting at 5:00 p.m.  The Thursday evening entertainment continues with Planet Groove (PG).   Planet Groove is a 7 piece band playing high energy music from the 60’s-today.

Friday night at 5:00 get your inner ABBA on as Dancing Queen Dancing Queen recreate an ABBA experience that won’t soon be forgotten. 7:00 brings for the first time to Central Stage, Semple.  With styles ranging from 70s rock to modern pop songs and everything in between, everyone is sure to leave happy.

Saturday Parrotheads will enjoy Johnny Russler and the Beach Bum Band as they play plenty of Buffett favorites, but you’re also just as likely to hear music from Bob Marley, Jimmy Cliff, Paul Simon, Dick Dale and many others.  The evening concludes with ARRA, performing the hits by the biggest bands of all time with precision and excellence has been the secret to their success.

If you have some time around lunch, don’t miss “Concerts on the Lawn”.  This ever popular midday musical event is held 1-3 pm Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday.  The line-up includes the talents of Cole Brandt, Kelsey & Owen and Danny O’Brien.

Saturday and Sunday get your Swede on as singers, dancers and musicians perform at Sweden Väst including for the first time, Swedish quintet Jaerv on Sunday.

All evening concerts will be held at the Central Stage and Concerts on the Lawn are during the day in front of the courthouse.  Both venues are on S. Third & James St.  Sweden Väst entertainment takes place on the corner of S. Fourth & State streets.

Central Stage is presented by Gerald Auto Group and co-sponsored by Geneva Park District, Inland Bank, Kane County Chronicle/Shaw Media and Paws In Time.

Concerts on the Lawn is sponsored by American Bank & Trust and 151st Annual Kane County Fair.

Food Booths

Festival goers can feast on traditional Swedish and favorite American and ethnic foods including, brats, ribs, turkey legs, veggie burgers, wood smoked pork sandwiches, meatballs, pizza, garlic crab pasta and burritos to name a few at the many non-profit food booths.  Sinfully good desserts will also be available.

Restaurants, Pizzerias & Pubs

Don’t forget all the fine restaurants in Geneva.  From casual bistros to 5-star formal dining, a day in Geneva isn’t complete without sampling one or more of our fine restaurants and eateries.  Or stop by one of the beer gardens that will offer good food, drink, and entertainment during the festival. Activities For Young Visitors

Kids will want to be at Swedish Days 2019 every day, but Tuesdays kick-off explodes with activity for young visitors.

Creation Station opens at 10 am on Wednesday and continues Thursday and Friday with fun projects.  Join Sounds Like Music, School of ART, Geneva and American Science & Surplus at Creation Station’s new location on the corner of Third and Campbell.

Swedish Days 2019 is packed with favorites – the Carnival; 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament, Fun at the Library Tent and mini golf.

And NEW this year is Toddler Town on S. Fourth St.  Little ones under 35” have a spot all to themselves.  Wednesday-Friday the Discovery Tent, in front of 316 Campbell Street, is full of interesting discoveries for all.

June 21 is “Kids’ Day” where from early in the morn to late into the night, kids can stay busy.   All Star Sports coaches will try to dodge getting dunked.

The Kids’ Day Parade invites children through the age of 10 to enter in one of our parade categories.

Come for the Run, Stay for the Fun

Located along the scenic Fox River in Geneva, the Swedish Days 5K Lopp promises an unbelievable race experience.   As part of the Swedish Days Festival we encourage you to tie-in with the Scandinavian theme with your attire. More information available in March at genevachamber.com.

Grand Parade

On Sunday, bring some chairs and blankets so the entire family can enjoy the Grand Parade – truly a community parade that over 45,000 will be viewing.
