A 45-year-old South Elgin man has pleaded guilty to disseminating child pornography after he sent a video to the Kane County States Attorney’s Child Exploitation Unit’s undercover computer.
Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie L. Mosser announced Friday that Kristofer Ray McMullen has agreed to a sentence of 14 years in prison in exchange for a guilty plea to the offense of Dissemination of Child Sexual Abuse Material (Child Pornography), a Class X felony.
According to prosecutors, n January 8, 2025, the defendant sent a child sexual abuse video file (CSAM) to the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Child Exploitation Unit’s undercover computer. The video file depicted a child clearly under the age of 13.
In addition to the prison term, McMullen must register for life as a sexual offender in accordance with the Illinois Sexual Offender Registration Act. He is eligible for day-for-day sentencing. McMullen receives credit for 571 days served in the Kane County Jail.
“Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM) is not a victimless crime,” said Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Busljeta. “Those who possess and share this material online continue to motivate those who commit these horrific assaults against children.”
