A man is in hospital with unspecified injuries after having fallen out of a moving vehicle in Elburn Monday afternoon.

At approximately 4:11pm Monday, Kane County Sheriff’s officers responded to the area of Illinois Route 38, just west of Illinois Route 47, for a report of a single-vehicle accident involving injuries.

Detectives spoke with the driver of the single vehicle, Judy Moreno (38), who stated that her brother, Jose Moreno (40), was seated in the passenger seat of the 2017 black Toyota sedan at the time of the incident. According to Ms. Moreno, Jose indicated he was going to roll down the window, but instead opened the vehicle door and fell from the moving vehicle while she was driving.

Jose was airlifted from the scene to Good Samaritan Hospital, where he remains hospitalized. Hospital staff have not provided further information regarding his condition.

Authorities are withholding the addresses of both individuals involved until the Kane County Investigations Division can contact additional family members.

The Kane County Sheriff’s Investigations Division continues to investigate the crash. Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information related to the crash is urged to contact the Kane County Investigations Division at 630-444-1103.
