A 19-year-old Chicago man is in custody after leading Kane County Sheriff’s officers on a wild, high-speed chase down I-88 to Chicago early Monday morning.
Just after midnight Monday, the Kane County Sheriff’s Office received information that a gray Infiniti with no license plates was seen driving at a high rate of speed southbound on Washington Street at Fabyan Parkway in Batavia . The occupants of the vehicle were described as wearing ski masks.
The Kane County Sheriff’s Office located the vehicle southbound on Church Road at Bilter Road in Aurora where a traffic stop was attempted. The vehicle did not stop and fled onto Indian Trial, westbound, at a high rate of speed, later turning northbound onto Orchard Road, finally entering onto I-88 tollway.
As the vehicle continued eastbound on I-88, Downers Grove police officers were able to successfully spike it, but the pursuit continued into the city of Chicago where the vehicle ultimately crashed into another vehicle and came to a stop shortly after.
Due to the crash, both passengers inside the vehicle were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital. No injuries were reported but only pain complaints. All individuals were release by medical staff shortly thereafter.
The driver was taken in to custody and has been charged with 5 driving and registration-related crimes.
The other two passengers within the vehicle, a 19-year-old male from St. Charles and an undisclosed male juvenile, were identified and are pending potential charges.
