A 42-year-old Aurora man is dead after being hit by a work van on Farnsworth Avenue early Monday morning.

At approximately 4:20am Monday, deputies from the Kane County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a motor vehicle versus pedestrian crash near the intersection of Farnsworth Avenue and Summit Avenue in Aurora Township.

The preliminary investigation indicates that a white 2017 GMC work van was traveling southbound on Farnsworth Avenue when it struck a pedestrian who was also walking southbound in the roadway along the fog line.

The driver of the van, Kyle Zalusky, a 36-year-old male from Aurora, was transported to Ascension Mercy Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The pedestrian, identified by authorities as Samson Isom, also from Aurora, was transported to Rush Copley Medical Center with life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced deceased. Next of kin have been notified.

At this time, no citations have been issued. The crash remains an active investigation by the Kane County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division. It is currently unknown whether drugs or alcohol were contributing factors.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident or has information related to the crash is requested to contact the Kane County Investigations Division at 630-444-1103.
