Oswego Police have identified the individual recovered from the Fox River on Monday, April 21, 2025, as 35-year-old Lorenzo Gayosso Morales of Aurora.

An autopsy was conducted Tuesday morning by the Kendall County Coroner’s Office, but the exact cause of death remains uncertain pending further investigation.

Oswego Police have learned the man was last seen in unincorporated Kendall County on April 19 and was reported as a missing person to the Aurora Police Department on April 20. Oswego Police are actively investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident in collaboration with Aurora Police and the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office. At this time, it is unknown how the man ended up in the river.

Oswego Police are investigating an incident involving a body that was found in the Fox River near the 100 block of West Washington Street Monday evening.

At approximately 5:24pm Monday, Oswego Police were dispatched to the area after a caller reported seeing something unusual in the water. Upon arrival, police deployed a drone and located what appeared to be a body lying in shallow water in the center of the river near an island, approximately 100 yards southwest of Washington Street bridge.

The Oswego Fire Protection District responded to the scene for a water rescue/recovery and confirmed the individual was deceased. The body was subsequently recovered and transported to the coroner’s office for an autopsy.

Oswego Police have initiated an investigation into the incident. No other information is available for release at this time. Oswego Police will release more information as it becomes available.

Anyone who may have information related to this incident is encouraged to contact Oswego Police at 630-551-7300.
