An unidentified 35-year-old man was fatally shot early Saturday morning on Aurora’s east side after what appears to be a dispute betweent the man and an acquaintance.

At approximately 3:34am Saturday, Aurora Police officers responded to a report of a person with a weapon in the 400 block of Weston Avenue. Upon arrival, officers located a 35-year-old male victim suffering from two gunshot wounds.

Aurora Fire Department paramedics provided emergency medical care and transported the victim to Prime Healthcare Mercy Medical Center, where he was later pronounced deceased at 7:47am.

Detectives from the Aurora Police Department’s Investigations Bureau and Evidence Technicians responded to the scene to begin a comprehensive investigation. The Kane County Coroner’s Office took custody of the deceased and scheduled an autopsy to confirm the victim’s identity and determine the exact cause of death.

Preliminary information suggests the incident stemmed from a dispute between the victim and an acquaintance. Investigators are continuing to follow up on all aspects of the case and are working in close coordination with the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office to assess the circumstances and determine any potential criminal responsibility.

At this time, there is no indication of an ongoing threat to the public.
