A 52-year-old Yorkville man has been arrested and charged in an alleged murder-for-hire plot to kill his former wife.
The suspect has been charged with Solicitation of Murder and Solicitation of Murder for Hire, both Class X felonies.
According to police, on Wednesday, the Yorkville Police Department was alerted to the plot and investigtors were able to locate the victim and arrange for her safety until the situation could be resolved.
On Thursday, the Yorkville Police Investigations Division, with the assistance of Kendall County Cooperative Police Assistance Team (CPAT), deployed an undercover police officer posing as a hitman to made contact with the suspect, who provided details on how to access the victim’s residence and offered the undercover officer cash and jewelry as payment for the killing. After the arrangements were communicated to police, the suspect was located at his workplace with the assistance of the Downers Grove Police Department and then taken into custody by Yorkville Police investigators and members of Kendall County CPAT.
The suspect was then transported to the Kendall County Jail, where he remains in custody pending a detention hearing Friday.
