A 32-year-old Aurora man is dead after he lost control of his vehicle on Route 59 early Sunday morning and slammed into a light pole.
According to a release from the Aurora Police Department, the crash occurred on Sunday morning at approximately 3:45am near the intersection of Illinois Route 59 and Meridian Parkway.
Preliminary information indicates that a white 2018 Jaguar XE driven by the victim was traveling southbound on Route 59 when he lost control of the vehicle just south of Meridian Parkway. The Jaguar veered off the roadway and struck a light pole on the west side of Route 59. The impact ejected the driver from the vehicle, resulting in life-threatening injuries. No other occupants were in the vehicle.
Aurora Police and Fire Department personnel responded to the scene and provided immediate medical aid before transporting the driver to Rush Copley Medical Center. Despite medical efforts, the driver, who had recently moved to Aurora, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased at 4:43am.
The Kane County Coroner’s Office has taken custody of the body and will conduct an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. The driver’s name not been released at this time.
“Our thoughts are with the family and loved ones of the driver during this heartbreaking time,” said Aurora Police Chief Keith Cross. “This incident serves as a reminder that even minor slush or moisture can create hazardous conditions—especially in colder temperatures. We urge all drivers to slow down, remain alert, and adjust their driving to winter road conditions to help prevent tragedies like this.”
The investigation remains ongoing. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the Aurora Police Department’s Traffic Division at (630) 256-5330 or email [email protected].
