A Wheeling man has been arrested in connection with a shooting incident in Elgin Sunday afternoon that sent a man to hospital.

On Sunday at 1:16pm, Elgin police officers responded to the 400 block of Summit Street for a reported shooting where they located an adult male who had sustained a serious injury. The man was transported to an area hospital for treatment.

Later that day, after further investigation, a 20-year-old male suspect was taken into custody.

On Tuesday, the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office charged the suspect with Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm (Class X Felony) and Possession Firearm while FOID Card Invalid or Not Eligible (Class 3 Felony).

On Wednesday, the suspect was transported to the Kane County Jail for a pre-trial detention hearing, where the Judge ordered him to be detained pending a future court date.
