After having just absorbed a brutal storm system Friday evening, the Fox Valley region may be in for some additional rough weather this week.
The National Weather Service in Chicago has announced that the potential exists for a significant storm to develop Tuesday that would affect northwest Illinois and the Fox Valley region. The potential, however, is subject to what the NWS terms “considerable uncertainty.”
“There is a potential for severe storms Tues. PM/evening, however uncertainty exists in whether storms will develop. However, if storms form, all severe hazards will be possible.”
According to the NWS, a warm and moist atmosphere Tuesday will produce conditions supportive of severe storms in the afternoon and evening. However, a strong “cap” (warm air aloft) might prevent storms from forming.
If storms do form, however, they will likely be severe.
