The massive winter storm that passed through Northern Illinois on Thursday resulted in power outages that very well might last until Saturday for some residents.
At one point, approximately 98,000 customers had lost power as a result of the storm, with the Fox Valley area comprising roughly 13,000 of the total.
ComEd stated on its website that it expects to get roughly 80% of its customers up and running on Thursday, but that the some of the remaining 20% may be without power until Saturday. A review of social media in the Fox Valley indicates that significant outages remain as of 9:50am this morning.
According to reports, some locations saw nearly one-third of an inch of ice accumulation due to Wednesday’s storm, which, in addition to the power outages, caused serious traffic issues across the area, downing trees and power lines on roadways.
