An Aurora man was arrested Wednesday morning after being confronted by staff near an entry point to Granger Middle School in Aurora.
At approximately 8am on Wednesday, officers were dispatched to the middle school for a report of a suspicious person trespassing on school grounds. Upon arrival, officers learned school staff had confronted the stranger near an entry point to the school.
Officers secured the male, a 20-year-old man residing in the 1200 block of Townes Circle in Aurora, and placed him under arrest.
The suspect was charged with the following:
- One count-Criminal trespass to a safe school zone
- One count-Disorderly conduct-actions alarm or disturb another provoking breach of peace
The campus of Granger Middle School was put on lockdown according to Alert, Lockdown, Inform, Counter, Evacuate (ALICE) protocol while the incident was handled by staff and Aurora Police officers. No injuries to school staff members involved in the incident were reported.
The suspect was unarmed at the time of arrest. No weapons were located or alluded to during this incident. According to the APD, there is no current danger to the students, staff, or school.
