During the early morning hours Sunday, Elgin Police officers responded to the 500 block of East Chicago Street for a reported shooting, where they found an adult male subject with injuries. The man was subsequently transported to an area hospital for treatment.

After an investigation, EPD has now identified an 18-year-old Carpentersville man in connection with the incident.

The man, who resides in the 3000 block of Blue Ridge Drive in Carpentersville, was arrested and charged by the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office with the following:

    • Possession of a firearm/No FOID (Class 3 felony)
    • Reckless discharge of a firearm (Class 4 felony)

The accused appeared in Kane County bond call Tuesday morning where the Judge set his bond at $15,000 (10% to apply).
