A man is in hospital after having apparently been shot early Sunday morning, according to Elgin police.
At 12:25 a.m. Sunday morning, Elgin police officers responded to the 500 block of E. Chicago Street for a reported shooting. Officers arrived on scene and located an adult male subject with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital.
This is the 7th confirmed shots fired incident in Elgin this year and the 13th in the last 90 days.
Detectives from the Major Investigations Division are actively investigating the case and have individuals in custody.
