On February 5, 2020, Francisco L. Manriquez of Aurora was caught sexually assaulting a woman who was unable to consent to the act. Upon walking in and witnessing the sexual assault, a second victim, who was then seven months pregnant, was battered by Manriquez.
Yesterday, it was announced that a jury has found the 53-year-old Manriquez guilty of the offenses of:
- Aggravated criminal sexual assault – Class X felony (2 counts)
- Criminal sexual assault – Class 1 felony (4 counts)
- Aggravated battery – Class 3 felony (1 count)
Manriquez faces a sentence of between 12 and 50 years of imprisonment in the Illinois Department of Corrections.
In addition to the prison term, Manriquez must register for life as a sex offender in accordance with the Illinois Sex Offender Registration Act.
“This defendant’s actions were the ultimate betrayal of trust,” commented Assistant State’s Attorney Amanda Busljeta. “Not once did he think of the trauma he was forcing on both victims. These victims, by contrast, showed amazing courage by confronting this defendant. Justice has been served in this case.”
Judge David P. Kliment set Manriquez’s next court appearance for March 31, 2023, at 1:30 p.m. in Courtroom 305 at the Kane County Judicial Center for motions and sentencing.
Manriquez remains in custody at the Kane County jail, where he had been held in lieu of $1 million bail since his arrest. Judge Kliment revoked bond upon conviction.
