    A collaboration between the Kane County Sheriff’s Office and the Kane County State’s Attorney’s Child Exploitation Unit has resulted in two men facing child pornography charges involving separate circumstances.

    A 66-year-old Batavia man was charged with:

    • Reproducing child pornography, victim younger than 13, Class X felony, 3 counts,
    • Possession of child pornography, victim younger than 13, Class 2 felony, 15 counts.

    According to Kane County State’s Attorney Jamie Mosser and Kane County Sheriff Ron Hain, prior to December 20, 2022, the Batavia man reproduced and possessed multiple videos and images of child pornography.

    A 42-year-old Elburn man was charged with:

    • Soliciting child pornography – moving depictions, Class X felony;
    • Reproducing child pornography – moving depictions, Class X felony, 3 counts;
    • Disseminating child pornography, Class 1 felony;
    • Possession of child pornography – moving depictions, Class 2 felony, 16 counts.

    According to Mosser and Hain, prior to December 21, 2022, the Elburn man solicited, reproduced, disseminated and possessed multiple videos and images of child pornography.

    “People who view child pornography are not committing a victimless crime,” Mosser said in a statement. “They are encouraging child abuse, as well as the continued victimization of the children depicted in the images and videos. We will devote the necessary resources to appropriately prosecute these criminals.”

    Judge Julia Yetter set bail for the accused at $250,000 with 10 percent to apply for bond, and$100,000 with 10 percent to apply for bond, respectively. If either posts bond, he shall have no contact with an identified victim and no unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18 years old. He shall also surrender his passport, any firearms, ammunition and Firearm Owners Identification card, and is prohibited from using Internet file- sharing applications.
