Elgin police used almost every tool available – including K9’s, drones and air support – to corner and then arrest a subject wanted by a “neighboring agency” Wednesday evening.

At approximately 5:55pm, Elgin police officers identified a subject in the 1000 block of Summit St whom they recognized as being a subject wanted by a neighboring agency.

When approached by officers, the subject fled in a vehicle and subsequently crashed the vehicle in the 1200 block of Coldspring Rd.

Officers were then able to setup a perimeter and requested numerous resources to the scene, including K9’s, drones and air support. A RAVE alert was sent to area residents alerting them of the active police incident.

The subject was located and safely taken into custody. The investigation is ongoing.
