Police departments in Aurora, Oswego and Plainfield have investigated a man who apparently sought tours of multiple schools in and near these jurisdictions and found “no credible threat to the general public.”

In a posting to its Facebook page, the Aurora Police Department indicated that it, along with Oswego and Plainfield Police Departments, had been made aware of a suspicious circumstance alleging an individual attempting to gain access to multiple schools in the surrounding jurisdictions.

Lyons Township High School District 204 went so far as to issue a public security alert, along with a photo of the individual, indicating that when asked for identifying information, “the individual abruptly leaves the premises.” [Note: Fox Valley Magazine will not publish the photo in light of the determination by APD.]

APD investigators identified and spoke to the individual, whose name has not been released, and confirmed that he had requested tours from the various schools, but found no credible evidence that his intentions were malicious.

Specifically, APD found that the man never gained any unauthorized access to a school and that no threats of harm to any students, faculty, or the general public were ever made.

No indication as to why the individual sought tours has been provided.
