A 25-year-old Elgin man and School District U-46 employee has been arrested and charged with criminal sexual assault charges arising from is alleged sexual contact with an underage student.

According to prosecutors, the accused met the victim, who is under 18 years of age, while she was a student at Tefft Middle School in Streamwood. Prosecutors allege that between May 1, 2022, and August 30, 2022, the accused had sexual contact with the victim and, on at least one occasion, drove the victim to his home in Elgin, where the sexual contact occurred.

The accused has been charged with:

    • Criminal sexual assault, Class 1 felony
    • Aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Class 1 felony
    • Aggravated criminal sexual abuse, Class 2 felony
    • Child luring, Class 4 felony

The accused appeared Friday in Kane County bond court where Judge Julia Yetter set his bail at $200,000, with 10 percent ($20,000) to apply for bond. If he posts bond he is to have no contact with the victim, no unsupervised contact with anyone younger than 18 years old, he is prohibited from being on the property at Tefft Middle School, and he must surrender any guns, Firearm Owners Identification, Concealed Carry permit, and his passport.

His next court appearance is set for 9 a.m. Sept. 15, 2022, in Courtroom 319 at the Kane County Judicial Center.

The case remains under investigation. Anyone with information about the accused should call Kane County Child Advocacy Center Investigator Dave Smith at (630) 845-3780.
