According to the Kane County Sheriff’s Office, a man was fatally injured when his BMW first rear-ended the car in from of him and then crashed into an oncoming car, causing his BMW to split in half and him to be ejected from the vehicle.

19-year-old Alex Garcia-Roguel of Aurora was pronounced deceased at the scene.

At approximately 8:25pm Tuesday evening, Kane County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the area of Rt. 30 about a half mile east of Orchard Rd near the Village of Montgomery for a report of a traffic crash with injuries. The initial investigation indicates that a BMW was traveling west on Rt. 30 at a high rate of speed and struck the rear of a Nissan Rogue which was also traveling west on Rt. 30.  The Nissan left the road and rolled over.  The BMW continued westbound for a short distance and entered the eastbound lane and struck a Chevy Malibu that was traveling east on Rt. 30.  The force of the crash caused the BMW to split in half and the driver of the BMW was ejected from the vehicle.

The drivers of the Chevy and Nissan, a 17-year-old female and a 53-year-old male, respectively, both from Aurora, were transported to Copley Hospital with apparent non-life threating injuries.  The drivers of all three vehicles were the sole occupants of their vehicles.

Kane County Sheriff’s Detectives are continuing the investigation into this crash.  It has not yet been determined if drugs, alcohol or texting were involved; however it is clear that excessive speed by the BMW was a major contributing factor into this crash.  No citations have been issued.
