A 36-year-old Yorkville man was sentenced to 13 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to Criminal Sexual Assault and Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse.
The incident occurred in June 2021when the 15-year-old victim agreed to babysit for the 6-year-old son of Graham Moss and his wife while they went out for the evening. When Moss and his wife returned, the victim was allowed to sleep in a spare bedroom.
In the early morning hours, Moss quietly entered the room where the victim was asleep. The victim woke up to find Moss using his hand to touch her sexually. Moss then held her down and forced intercourse, after which he left the room.
The victim notified others about what had happened, resulting in a rapid police response. Subsequent DNA testing confirmed the victim’s account of what happened.
Moss entered a guilty plea and was sentenced to 10 years in prison for Criminal Sexual Asault and 3 years for Criminal Sexual ASsault and 3 years in prison for Criminal Sexual Abuse. Those sentences will run consecutively and Moss will be required to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Kendall County State’ Attorney Eric Weiss stated “This defendant preyed upon a vulnerable child who placed her trust in him. Thankfully, this young victim had the strength and courage to immediately stand up and face her attacker to make sure that justice was done.”
