As previously reported, two people were wounded by gunfire in an incident early Saturday morning in Elgin.

The shooting reportedly occurred previously in the 300 block of Willard Avenue, near Prairie Park, although the victims contacted EPD from the 100 block of Tennyson Ave in the Elgin Historic District. Evidence of gunfire was located on Willard. The victims, two adult females, where found to have non-life-threatening injuries from the attack.

After investigating the incident and a review of the facts of the case by the Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office, an 18-year-old Elgin man was arrested and charged with two counts of Attempt First Degree Murder (Class X felony).

The Cook County State’s Attorney’s Office has also charged a 17-year-old female juvenile with two counts of Attempt First Degree Murder (Class X felony) and two counts of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm (Class X felony).

The elder suspect appeared in Cook County bond call this afternoon where the Judge ordered him held without bond. The juvenile subject was charged as an adult and was also ordered to be held without bond.

This case remains under investigation and anyone with information is asked to contact the Elgin Police Department’s Major Investigations Division at 847-289-2600.
