Business advisor Catalina Lauf has won the GOP primary for the 11th Congressional District, according to projections. She will take on incumbent Rep Bill Foster in the general election in November.

Lauf is a business advisor to a healthcare start-up and was a Presidential political appointee at the U.S. Department of Commerce, working on small-business initiatives, Tax Cuts and Jobs Act and pro-growth policies.

Born and raised in Woodstock, Lauf is the daughter of an immigrant from Latin America and an Illinois-raised small businessman.
