A Batavia man was viciously slashed with a knife about his face and arm late Wednesday evening, causing severe injuries that required immediate medical attention.
His alleged assailant, a family member, barricaded herself in a nearby residence until police negotiators from the Kane County S.W.A.T. team eventually established contact and convinced her to surrender to police peacefully. The suspect, identified as a 30-year-old female of the 0-99 block of Oak Terrace Court in Batavia, was placed under arrest.
The victim was transported to a nearby hospital for advanced treatment. His condition is unknown, but his injuries, while severe, are not considered to be life-threatening.
The incident, which occurred in the 0-99 block of Oak Terrace Court in Batavia, remains under investigation, but the suspect has been charged with:
- Aggravated Domestic Battery 720 ILCS 5/12-3.3(a), a Class 2 Felony
- Aggravated Battery Victim 60 + 720 ILCS 5/12-3.05(d)(1), a Class 3 Felony
- Domestic Battery – Bodily Harm 720 ILCS5/12-3.2(a)(1), a Class A Misdemeanor
- Domestic Battery- Insulting/Provoking Contact, a Class A Misdemeanor
