A Naperville woman was shot in the leg on Chicago’s North Side Thursday, according to a Chicago Police Department report.
The as yet unidentified 72-year-old woman was walking with her daughter and granddaughter in the 3100 block of North Broadway at about 1:35 p.m. when the daughter heard what she thought was a car backfiring and saw her mother, who was shot, fall to the ground, according to the report.
The woman was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where she was treated for a gunshot wound to the upper left leg. She is considered to be in good condition.
At the moment, the shooting appears to be random in nature.
Police are investigating and no arrests have yet been made.
