    NPD Finds Almost 96% Compliance During Tobacco/Alternative Nicotine Product Checks

    The Naperville Police Department recently completed a round of tobacco/alternative nicotine product compliance checks , and found a nearly 96% compliance rate. for Naperville retailers.

    The checks were performed at 72 Naperville businesses to determine if local tobacco/alternative nicotine product retailers are complying with the minimum-age tobacco laws that prohibit the sale of tobacco/alternative nicotine products to persons under the age of 21.

    Sixty-nine establishments passed the compliance check.

    The three establishments that failed were issued City Ordinance citations for selling tobacco/alternative nicotine product to a person under the age of 21 years old. Those three establishment were

    • Jewel/Osco, 1227 S. Naper Blvd.
    • CBD Vape Smoke, 4003 Plainfield-Naperville Rd. #105
    • Smoke XL, 1003A W. Ogden Ave.

    With the help of a grant awarded by the Illinois Department of Human Services Tobacco Enforcement Program, the Naperville Police Department educates local tobacco/alternative nicotine product retailers on minimum-age tobacco/nicotine product laws and the importance of verifying the age of customers before selling age-restrictive products such as tobacco/alternative nicotine products. Tobacco/alternative nicotine product retailers are given a retailer education packet and notified that the compliance checks are going to occur in the near future.
