The Aurora Police Department is searching for 28-year-old Saul Valdez, who went missing from AMITA Mercy Medical Center yesterday.
He was last seen wearing green scrubs and a hospital bracelet. Saul is approximately 5’6” and 170 lbs.
At approximately 5 p.m., officers were called to AMITA Mercy Medical Center for a man who left the emergency room. According to information received by Aurora’s 911 Center, the man was being held by the hospital for admission to a mental health facility under an involuntarily petition and is believed to be a danger to himself. The man was not in police custody nor was he transported to the hospital under the authority of a police officer.
Numerous officers, an APD K-9 Unit, APD’s Crisis Intervention Unit, and APD’s Drone Team responded to the area and began searching for Saul. Additionally, an Illinois State Police air unit was requested and responded to assist.
Valdez has not yet been located and APD is continuing to ask for the community’s help to locate Saul.
Because Valdez is suffering from a mental health crisis, the community is asked not to approach him but to call 9-1-1.
