The St. Charles Business Alliance has announced Sue and Bob McDowell as the Grand Marshals of the St. Patrick’s Parade.
Sue and Bob owned McDowell Remodeling for over 48 years and were previously selected to be the Grand Marshals for the 2020 St. Patrick’s Parade, which was cancelled due to COVID.
Sue is the President of the St. Charles Arts Council and leads the planning of the St. Charles Fine Art Show, which is celebrating its 24th anniversary on Memorial Day Weekend. She is also on the board for the St. Charles Singers.
Like his wife, Bob has also made numerous contributions to the community, with one of them being building Santa’s House, which visits First Street Plaza beginning on the Holiday Homecoming weekend. He is also President of Lazarus House where he has tirelessly volunteered his time and amazing building skills for 13 years.
They have also been involved in the following organizations’ events and fundraisers: St. Charles Heritage Center, Remodelers Advantage Roundtables, the St. Charles Chamber of Commerce and the Downtown St. Charles Partnership and St. Charles Business Alliance.
Sue said she and Bob are honored to be the Grand Marshals for the parade.
”We have been privileged to live in St. Charles and have a business here for over 48 years,” Sue said. “We are thrilled to be the Grand Marshals for the St. Patrick’s Parade this year. We’ve been practicing our parade wave for the past two years and can’t wait to see everyone!”
The St. Patrick’s Parade has seen a multitude of organizers, supporters and attendees that have turned it into the local tradition for thousands of people of all ages to come line Main Street and watch St. Patrick’s Day themed entries show their St. Patrick’s Day spirit, listen to award-winning local marching bands and Celtic bands, watch elaborate and colorful floats glide down the street, pay tribute to the walking units of veterans and see all the best that St. Charles has to offer.
