A Geneva man was arrested Saturday following an investigation of a domestic dispute that took place three days earlier involving an adult male family member.
The 26 year-old man, of the 1000 block of Westfield Course, has been charged with:
- Attempted Murder – 1st Degree – Intent to cause death or great bodily harm, Class X felony (720 ILCS 5/9-1(a)(1));
- Aggravated Domestic Battery – Strangle, Class 2 felony (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3 (a-5)); and
- Aggravated Domestic Battery, Class 2 felony (720 ILCS 5/12-3.3(a)).
In the early morning hours of Wednesday, December 16, Geneva Police responded to a residence regarding a domestic disturbance called in by another family member. Upon arrival, officers observed the accused holding an unconscious man from behind while seated in a reclining chair. The man was immediately taken by ambulance to Northwestern Delnor Hospital in Geneva, where he remains in critical condition.
Initial interviews led to the belief the man suffered from an unknown medical issue.
The accused voluntarily responded to the Geneva Police Department Saturday morning, when he admitted to allegedly being involved in a physical altercation with the family member. The Kane County State’s Attorney’s Office then authorized charges against him. He is scheduled to appear for a bond hearing today.
